“ Umezu is less than 10 years younger than Tezuka, and was apparently a fan of the older artist, but their approach couldn’t be more different. Unlike Tezuka, who experimented wildly with the comics format, Umezu is primarily a storyteller who developed a certain set of visual tools — and favorite themes — and stuck with them doggedly.
